Dear Friends, “Growing in Grace; Building to Serve.” What an outstanding theme for our Building Campaign! The theme captures the essence of what we are to be about as the people of God. As trees along a river grow and are enriched by the passing water, we too grow as God’s grace flows through us to others. Our life in Christ is characterized by two ever-deepening movements. One movement is toward God as we open our lives to receive all that He has for us in Christ. The other movement is toward our neighbors, allowing God’s grace to run through us to them. Physical space does make a difference. But this campaign is about far more than a nursery or a sound booth. It is about fulfilling our vision to be a welcoming place, where those who do not know the grace of God can wake up rivertree.jpgto his love, grow in Christ, and step into the world as witnesses and servants. A good example of this witness began this summer as children and volunteers “Yee Hawed” their way through Vacation Bible School, giving us a taste of the possibilities that come with access to ministry space. We have been granted both a goal and a challenge as the people of God. The goal of building a church facility is before us. The challenge is to give sacrificially and generously to the Building Campaign and to trust God while orienting our life around His mission and promise. For “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” II Corinthians 9:8. The challenge is also an invitation, to step into the river of grace and to splash our community with the love of God. My prayer is that our living and giving will be grounded in the reality that we are created by God, redeemed in Christ and commissioned though the work of the Holy Spirit. We have been granted a unique opportunity not to build a building, but to dig a channel for God’s grace to flow through us into our community in new ways. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
