Dear Friends,
What a night! U2charist was a great evening on many levels. More than just an evening of great music and fun, U2charist is a good example of what it means to live our vision to be a welcoming community, a catalyst for faith in action and a spiritual home.
Our musicians didn’t just pull off the music, but they hit it out of the park! The tech team, greeters, parking crew and hospitality team all served with excellence. As we work together in reliance upon the Spirit, we move toward being a spiritual home, nurturing our growth in the grace and knowledge of Jesus.
Our musicians didn’t just pull off the music, but they hit it out of the park!
Seeking to be a catalyst for faith in action, cultivating hope and healing, we were able to partner with Living Water International to relieve suffering, and provided an opportunity for our friends to participate. Together we raised over $2,000 for Living Water International.
We seek to be a welcoming community celebrating God’s transforming love, and many of you took a risk and invited your friends and then blessed them with our gift of hospitality. Of the 150 plus people who attended, nearly half were guests.
The comments by guests at the end of the night were filled with surprise and appreciation that it was more than just an entertaining evening: “I found it interesting;” “Thought provoking;” “Well done and provocative;” “I am so glad I came.” The program guided us from spiritual longing, through hope for a better world, to a prayer of repentance and the forgiveness offered by Jesus Christ in his invitation to sit at his table.
In reflecting on the event I was struck by a quote from U2 Band member, the Edge, regarding the song “One.” ... “‘get to’ suggests it is our privilege to carry one another. It puts everything in a different perspective and introduces the idea of grace.” U2charist took a tremendous amount of effort and energy from everyone involved, but rather than a burden it was a privilege, something we “get to” do. The energy, enthusiasm and teamwork of all contributed to a God-honoring evening.
By His Grace we “get to” be the church!
