Our plan is to construct a church building of approximately 7,000 square feet. To be cost-effective, we settled on a one-story structure sited in a manner allowing for future expansion. The design takes advantage of the beautiful contours of our property and the high visibility our location affords us. The building will include a multi-use space for worship and fellowship configured to accommodate 210 people, six classrooms, a nursery, kitchen and offices. This new church building will enhance our ministry in many ways:

Visibility: The property is strategically located near the intersection of major traffic routes 195 and 32 . It offers excellent visibility and easy access for the residents of four neighboring towns, Storrs/Mansfield, Tolland, Coventry and Willington. This will give us an unprecedented opportunity to reach a larger audience and expand the church’s influence in the region.

Hospitality: Hospitality is a primary way we share the love of Christ and foster community. As we move into our new home and shift our posture from that of being guests to being hosts, our opportunities for and means of practicing hospitality will be wonderfully enhanced.

Flexibility: The entry areas of the building create open space for welcoming friends, acquaintances and visitors. Such interactions before and after the service are essential for building relationships. The worship space doubles as a dining area, and the entire facility has been designed to provide for multiple uses. Our activities will not be restricted by lack of access to space, and our ability to serve the surrounding communities as hosts to a variety of events will be a practical expression of faith and outreach.

Enhanced Communication: Worship serves as the primary avenue for spiritual formation and the church’s main expression of evangelism. Seekers are invited into the worshipping community where God is present, and together we are transformed. Lighting, staging and acoustics designed specifically for our worship will facilitate the effective communication of the Gospel to our listeners. A warm, welcoming and functional space insures that worship continues to be strong at Storrs Community Church.

Programs for a diverse and busy audience: Our ability to nurture faith and care for individuals will grow as we move beyond the boundaries of Sundays and holidays. Flexible scheduling will allow us to offer small groups, support groups, life-skills seminars, family nights, prayer breakfasts, dinners, youth overnights, college weekends, recreational activities and many other programs designed to meet the diverse discipleship needs of a scattered and busy multi-generational population. This new facility is an important step in becoming a seven-day-a-week church, as well as enhancing our current discipleship and education ministry.

Effective ministry execution: In addition to meeting space, we currently lease an office that provides for our administrative needs and serves as a pastor's study and counseling space. The above-mentioned ministries will benefit as we bring administration and programs together, improving our efficiency and effectiveness.
